Academic Council of the Faculty: Composition of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Computer Sciences

The Faculty of Computer Sciences is one of the most innovative and dynamically developing faculties of the university. The Faculty was founded on September 1, 1998 to provide training of specialists based on present-day areas of information technologies.

The Faculty provides training of the following specialists:

Bachelor degree of higher education, speciality: 122 “Computer Sciences and Information Technologies”, period of full-time study – 4 years, extramural study – 5 years.

Master’s degree of higher education, speciality: 122 “Computer Sciences and Information Technologies”, specializations: “Information Control Systems and Technologies” and “Computer Ecological and Economic Monitoring”.

Educational and professional training period is 1,5 years for full-time study and 2 years for extramural study.

The staff of the Faculty consists of 47 teachers (29 candidates of science and associate professors, 8 doctors of science and professors) who train around 300 students. Over the last five years teachers of the Faculty published 755 articles and reports and issued 15 monographs and textbooks. 12 candidates and doctors of science defended their theses at the Faculty.

The Faculty also operates a Teaching and Practical Center of Information and Network Technologies, 4 modern problem-oriented laboratories, 14 training computer classrooms and specialized classrooms with multimedia equipment.

Faculty’s academic and teaching staff and students actively cooperate with regional higher education establishments of Ukraine with 1-3 accreditation levels which train junior specialist with speciality on such specialities as “Maintenance of Computer Systems and Networks” and “Maintenance of Software Systems and Complexes”.

The faculty uses the most modern approaches to management of educational process and students’ independent activities. The classes are also taught for 4  students’ study clubs. The faculty arranged a research workshop “New Information Technologies.  Theory and Practice”. Faculty’s students actively participate in team and individual championships and competitions in computer science and programming (both national and international) and take top places.

High quality of training is ensured due to availability of modern material and technical base, highly qualified teaching staff and international connections enabling integration of academic programs of leading international IT companies into the educational process. In 2012 the Faculty implemented the Network Academy Cisco. Apart from introducing the best international practices the partnership allowed for implementation into the educational process of the latest integrated technologies, engineering and information and communication training aids.

The Faculty cooperates with IT companies having their offices in Odesa. The possibility of getting an additional professional education and internationally recognised qualification certificates of ensures graduates’ competitiveness in the IT-market.
